Welcome to Stefan Swanson. Stefan begins a twelve month internship here at Abiding Presence on the weekend of August 8-9.

Stefan is a third year student at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in California, where he is pursuing a master of divinity degree. His home congregation is Immanuel Lutheran Church in Killeen, TX.
Prior to seminary, he was a soldier in the US Army stationed at Ft. Hood, TX. As a trombone player, he performed in the 1st Cavalry Division Band. Before his Army days, Stefan was a band and choir teacher in Newfolden, MN. He graduated from the University of Northwestern – Saint Paul, MN in 2012 with a music education major and a Bible minor. He spent four summers during college working at Shetek Lutheran Ministries in Slayton, MN as a camp counselor and later as assistant program director.
Outside of school and work, Stefan enjoys running, hiking, cooking, baking, and is currently taking baby steps toward learning Mandarin.
Since we couldn’t throw a big party in our usual style, the people of Abiding Presence welcomed Stefan with gift cards, piles of note cards, and several pieces of children’s artwork. In a “Drive by, Honk, and Wave” celebration Stefan and the Intern Support Committee hosted a donation drive for Haven for Hope. Nearly 100 personal hygiene kits plus many “extra” items were received, with thanks at Haven.
