Volunteer Opportunities at Abiding Presence
At Abiding Presence, every member is challenged to find a ministry where your talents can be used to serve others. Whatever your gift, people’s lives will be changed by your sharing.
Abiding Presence is known for making folks feel welcome and a great place to start serving is on a Welcome Team greeting members and visitors who come for worship.
In worship there are opportunities to serve as worship assistants, communion assistants, singers, bell ringers, instrumentalists, and creative artists.
Teachers, discussion leaders, mentors, and helpers in Sunday School classes and small learning groups help our youngest to our oldest grow in faith relationships with God and each other.
Behind the scenes many hands type, write, print and copy, sort, cut, fold, take pictures, and answer phones.
Each year members are asked to complete a Ministry Interest Survey and let the church leadership know how you would like to share your unique gifts or training in the mission and ministries of Abiding Presence.
Serve in the greater community
The people of Abiding Presence like to get out into the community of San Antonio and around the world to serve as well. We host quarterly Blood Drives for the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center, partner with SAMMinistries and Haven for Hope, and build homes with Habitat for Humanity and ramps for the disabled through the Texas Ramp Project. We work year round for Lutheran World Relief, making quilts and collecting items for school and personal care kits.
Each year the congregation selects several Mission Partners to support. We focus on a partner organization monthly, learning about the life changing ministry being accomplished and how we can be involved through volunteer service or financial donations.
